Other Activities
The club regularly has runners competing in the London Marathon, and there is always at least one place available through the club. In addition to runners training for the London Marathon there are often runners training for an Autumn marathon. During the last two years marathons held at Edinburgh, Loch Ness, Florence, Barcelona, New York and San Sebastion have had a runner from the club competing. In 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009 seventeen runners, plus several members as the back up crew, ran the 194 mile Round Norfolk Relay.
The club has had runners competing in the 10km and half marathon in 2006 and 2007 in Caudebec. Caudebec is situated in Northern France and is the twin town to Dereham. Caudebec sent a contingent of eighteen runners over to compete in our 10 mile road race held in May 2007.
In addition to the training nights the club has in the past enjoyed the following activities:-
Club weekends at the Great North Run for both runners and supporters.
Christmas party with senior and junior most improved runner of the year award presentation.
10-mile road race for the enjoyment of other runners.
Club 10k handicap road race during the summer.
Informal track and field evening for club members.
Summer BBQ – no running permitted!
